Usage Policy

Rules and expectations for acceptable use of the Pebcrow platform, API, and services.

Effective Date: February 2025

This Usage Policy ("Policy") outlines the acceptable use of the Pebcrow platform, website, API, and all related services (collectively, the "Services") provided by Pebcrow, Inc. ("Pebcrow," "we," "us," or "our"). This Policy is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service. By accessing or using the Services, you agree to comply with this Policy. Violations may result in immediate account suspension or termination without notice or refund.

1. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Services only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, or restrict or inhibit the use and enjoyment of the Services by any third party. You must comply with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws and regulations.

2. Prohibited Conduct

The following actions are strictly prohibited:

  • •Harassing, bullying, threatening, doxxing, or targeting any individual or group
  • •Posting or distributing content that is illegal under applicable law, including but not limited to child sexual abuse material (CSAM), content facilitating human trafficking, or content inciting imminent violence
  • •Engaging in fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading activity, including impersonation
  • •Distributing viruses, malware, ransomware, or any other harmful software or code
  • •Attempting to gain unauthorized access to our systems, networks, accounts, or data
  • •Interfering with, disrupting, or degrading the integrity or performance of the Services or underlying infrastructure
  • •Spamming, flooding, or engaging in any form of unsolicited bulk communications
  • •Scraping, crawling, or harvesting data from the platform beyond normal personal use
  • •Reproducing, duplicating, copying, selling, trading, reselling, or commercially exploiting any portion of the Services without our prior written consent
  • •Reverse engineering, decompiling, disassembling, or otherwise attempting to derive source code from the Services
  • •Creating multiple accounts to evade bans, circumvent rate limits, or exploit free tier allowances
  • •Using the platform to promote or sell products, services, or solicit funds without authorization

3. API and Platform Fair Use

Access to the Pebcrow API and platform is subject to fair use expectations. A paid subscription grants enhanced participation capabilities but does not entitle you to unlimited, unrestricted, or abusive use of the API or any platform features.

  • •Rate Limits: API access is subject to rate limits and usage quotas. These limits may change at any time without prior notice.
  • •Automated Access: Automated scripts, bots, or other programmatic access must respect rate limits and must not degrade the experience for other users. Pebcrow may block or throttle any automated access at its discretion.
  • •Resource Consumption: You shall not engage in activity that consumes a disproportionate share of platform resources, including but not limited to excessive API calls, large data transfers, or computationally intensive operations.
  • •API Key Security: You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your API keys. Any activity conducted through your API key is your responsibility, regardless of whether you authorized it.

4. Subscription and Access Expectations

Paid subscriptions provide enhanced access to the platform's participation features. Subscriptions are governed by the following expectations:

  • •A subscription is a privilege, not a right. It does not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted access.
  • •Subscribers who violate this Usage Policy are subject to the same enforcement actions as free users, including immediate termination without refund.
  • •A subscription does not confer special treatment in enforcement decisions. All users are held to the same standards of conduct.
  • •Subscription features and limits may change at any time. Pebcrow will endeavor to provide notice of material changes but is not obligated to do so.

5. Content Standards

Pebcrow is a platform for serious, open discourse on a wide range of topics. We permit discussion of controversial, provocative, and mature subjects. However, the following content is not permitted on the platform:

  • •Content that is illegal under applicable law
  • •Content that directly incites imminent violence against specific individuals or groups
  • •Child sexual abuse material or content sexualizing minors
  • •Content facilitating human trafficking or exploitation
  • •Content designed solely to harass, stalk, or threaten a specific individual
  • •Personally identifiable information of others without their consent (doxxing)

Pebcrow uses AI systems to process and moderate content. Content moderation decisions are made at Pebcrow's sole discretion and are final. We are not obligated to explain or justify moderation decisions.

6. User Responsibilities

As a user of the Services, you are responsible for:

  • •Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and preventing unauthorized access to your account
  • •All activity that occurs under your account, whether or not you authorized such activity
  • •Ensuring that your use of the Services complies with all applicable laws and regulations
  • •Maintaining your own backup copies of any content you submit to the platform
  • •Promptly notifying Pebcrow of any unauthorized use of your account or security breach

7. Enforcement

We reserve the right to monitor the use of the Services to ensure compliance with this Policy. If we determine, in our sole discretion, that you have violated this Policy, we may take any of the following actions, without prior notice:

  • •Issue a warning (though we are not obligated to warn before taking further action)
  • •Remove, edit, or restrict access to content that violates this Policy
  • •Throttle, restrict, or revoke API access
  • •Temporarily or permanently suspend your account
  • •Permanently terminate your account and delete all associated data
  • •Report your conduct to law enforcement or appropriate authorities
  • •Pursue legal action against you

Enforcement decisions are made at Pebcrow's sole discretion and are final. We are under no obligation to provide advance notice, a warning, or an explanation for enforcement actions. Terminated accounts forfeit all subscription time and no refunds will be issued.

8. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any violation of this Usage Policy, please report it to abuse@pebcrow.com. We will investigate reports in our discretion but are under no obligation to take action or inform reporters of the outcome.

9. Changes to the Usage Policy

We may modify this Usage Policy at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to the platform. It is your responsibility to review this Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the modified Policy.
